Michigan State, Arkansas, and Nebraska were all 10-0 at the end of the 1965 regular season. In an attempt to avoid the previous year's uproar, the AP waited until after the new year to crown the 1965 national champion.<p>Despite losing to UCLA by a score of 13-3 in the Rose Bowl, Michigan State was declared the UPI National Champion while underdog Alabama, who defeated UCLA 13-3, were crowned the AP National Champions.
